So I should be writing a rough draft?

Oops. I just read some nice lady's blog and she was going on about how she NEVER post on the fly, as in, she usually has a process of brainstorming, pre-writing, editing, and all those great elements necessary for good writing. Oh.

See, all this time I have been operating under the impression that the blog world was exempt from the rules and mechanics of writing. Well, not completely exempt because most of us probably don't appreciate typos and misplaced apostrophes when reading our favorite crafty-blog.

Well shame on me. I always write on the fly. And when I say always, what I really mean is "when this nut-ball actually wanders away from lurking on other people's blogs to write her own post".

Now that I have that off my chest...

WHAT I AM THANKFUL FOR TODAY

I need to share some really exciting news. A friend found me. A friend I had not seen or spoken to in 30 years. Wait, how OLD am I? Now I am sounding like someone's granny. So this friend, Heather found me through a post I left on thecottagenest.blogspot.com. (By the way, pop over to her blog and take a peek at all her lovely ideas for creating a lovely cottage dwelling.) So, anyway, the way I understand it, Heather saw my comment on Jen's blog, thought it might be me, then proceeded to stalk me and my family/friends on Facebook before sending me an email. I have never been so happy to be stalked! Before I leak out any more of this gripping saga, I need to chat with Heather about doing a guest post over here. Maybe she can bring some sense and clarity to my mish-mash of writing and help me tell this story in a way that makes sense.

Layla, I think doing a blog without a rough draft is perfectly acceptable for those of us who wish to blog our thoughts/opinions.

Now, if a corporation was paying you $1 million a year to blog for their product, then I would think rough drafts etc would be in order to keep your corporate bosses happy:)

HI! Thanks for popping over to my giveaway!

I agree, I LOVE how blogs connect people. I love how they help us keep up with those whom we don't see often. My blog is literally our scrapbook. My kids don't have scrapbooks but they will have our blog. :)

Have a great day!

Stacey

I guess I don't take blogging as seriously as she does because I write on the fly too. I'm too eager to get my information out there and sometimes have multiple posts going so I don't have the time for rewrites. I will re-read for typos or crazy, mixed up sentences but otherwise I tend to not make a lot of changes. Plus I trust myself enough to know that I'm pretty good at coming up with some good writing on the first try. That and it's just a blog. Not every post has to be a work of art, especially if you're putting out two to three posts a week. I've got other stuff going on in my life that takes precedence over the blog.

Your friendly neighborhood stalker here! I haven't said anything on my blog about our meeting because I didn't want to put any pressure on you. This was a delicate situation. It needed to be nurtured and tended to carefully. NOW THAT THE CAT IS OUT OF THE BAG...prepare yourself to be paparazzi-ed mercilessly!

As for writing a rough draft for blogs...well...all of mine are rough. I overuse commas, and you can always tell when Daryn proofreads because then it's all grammatically correct.

I'll be getting in touch with you about the collaboration of our tale.

God Bless my old friend,
Heather
